Construction
Earthworks at the MADOQUAPOWER2X Project Site within ZILS – Zona Industrial e Logística de Sines
Purpose of the Works
This phase of the works involves earthmoving activities aimed at creating the necessary platforms for the MP2X Project facilities, comprising Renewable Hydrogen and Renewable Ammonia Production Units. The project is of strategic importance to the Portuguese economy and has been granted the status of Potential National Interest (PIN).
Nature and Location of the Works
The intervention consists of earthmoving activities to be carried out within plots 2I, 1A3.1 and 1A3.2, as shown in the image below.
Main Activities
Vegetation clearance has already been carried out by AICEP Global Parques, the entity responsible for managing ZILS. At this stage, only earthmoving activities will be undertaken.
The project has been designed on the cut-fill balance goal, whereby excavated material will be reused to meet filling requirements. Therefore, no surplus excavated material is expected to be generated.
Schedule
The works are scheduled to commence on 9 November 2026 and are expected to be completed by June 2027, corresponding to a total duration of 31 weeks. Minor adjustments to the schedule may be required depending on weather conditions.
